My Quick and Easy Skin-Care Routine...

Hello My Gorgeous Ones!

It has been a while since I have posted something but today I decided " You know what?!, I am going to post something today!" So, here it is! My Skin Care Routine...

For a few months now, I have been trying this routine out and by the grace of GOD it has been working wonders for my skin. I have normal to oily skin and I was breaking out really bad on my forehead area. I switched up my moisturizer to oil free (shared in a previous post, Shiseido Pureness Gel Cream) and have been consistently doing the following:

1. Washing my face with the Cetaphil skin cleanser in normal to oily skin. Let the skin dry or pat down with a clean towel.

2. Taking a facial cotton pad, I gently apply Toner. I have been using Bliss's The Youth  As We Know It Toner which helps prepare your skin for the next step and also removes any excess dirt or oil you still may have on your face.

3. Last but not least, lightly apply Argan Oil on your face and neck by gently patting the skin not rubbing. I have been using Josie Maran's Argan Oil and I love it! My skin wakes up feeling nourished and rejuvenated!

I have learned that by using these steps and following them in that order; it has caused my skin to not produce extra oils which was causing me to break out so much.  It is a very simple routine and takes me no more than 5 minutes a night.

You can find the toner on the Bliss Website (btw I absolutely love their SPA and their products), the Argan oil at Sephora online or in-store, and the Cetaphil and cotton pads at your local drugstore.

I am a big believer in that if you focus on good skin care, you really do not need a lot of makeup.

I really hope this helps inspire you all to take care of your skin and establish a good routine. I mean we are all worth it right?!

MOTD Product Details

Hai!
I wanted to briefly show you yesterday's makeup of the day! It was very quick and simple to do. The products I used for this look are:
Lips:
1. MAC currant lip liner
2. Riri hearts MAC lipstick in nude
3. Cyan lip mix by MAC- this was used to make the lip color look a little more blue grey using a lip brush.

Eyes:
1. Inglot's gel liner in #77
2. Kat Von D's tattoo liquid liner-I placed this liner after I created the wing with the gel liner to. Placing the liquid on top of the gel will set and finish the look.

I hope this helps! Tag me on Instagram @_whosthatgirl_ so that I can see your re-creations of my newly named cotton candy lip.

Halloween Makeup Ideas

Hello my Beautiful Creatures (Bwaaahahaa)!!!

Halloween is right around the corner and I am beyond excited (EeeeeeeeeK)!!! It is my absolute FAVORITE holiday and I wanted to share with you some looks that have really caught my attention this year. Two of which I did makeup for...HeHe.

Last year, I decided to do the half Marilyn Monroe, half Sugar Skull (top right corner on the first collage) and it was so fun and simple to do; All I really had to purchase was the colored contacts and a few miscellaneous items that can be found in any Halloween store. Also a  few years back, my husband wanted to be Edward Scissorhands for Halloween (bottom left corner on the first). He clearly took it REALLY serious, hence the picture lol. It was also really simple to recreate this look for him with just a few simple makeup products such as white face paint, black eyeliner and a dark brown cream colored base eye shadow that I already had in my makeup collection.

I find myself wanting to focus more on the makeup as the years go by OR as I get older :-/ because in my opinion that is what HALLOWEEN is all about!!!! I do think the outfit also plays a large role however, there are so many DIY costumes/outfits you can make if your makeup speaks for itself; thus saving you a lot of money and who doesn't want to do that?!

I am so excited to see what looks are re-created this year for Halloween! What looks are you excited to see? Create? Let me know your thoughts and what you think will be popular this year!

See you soon,  (Chhh, chhh, chhh, ahh, ahh, ahh)

September Favorites!

HI!!!
When I said until tomorrow, I meant it!!!! I do not want to miss out on sharing my September Favorites with you! This is an important month on trends and I want to give you ample time to decide what looks you are going for this Fall Season :-)

I put together a few of my favorites that I have been obsessing over this past month. I usually do not like to stick with one brand but they all just happened to be MAC products except for one item this month.

The first item I have mentioned on the top left corner is a primer for the lashes by Smashbox. I clearly need to buy another (hence the almost clear tube) because it grabs on to my mascara and really helps lengthen and define my lashes! This is definitely a must have people!

I also mentioned MAC's 35 lashes because they are fluffy and soft yet very dramatic that helps create a bold makeup look. I like these because they do not look like you have a dead stiff animal on your lash line.

I have also been using MAC's NC15/20 Chromagraphic Pencil instead of using a white liner on my waterline. I feel like white is sometimes too harsh and for me, I tend to look a little cross eyed. This pencil also has so many purposes. You can use it for your waterline, brow bone (as a highlight) or even as a lip erase to smooth out your lip color before applying a dramatic color.

Next on the list, is of course one of my favorite makeup items; LIPSTICK! I love, love, love MAC's Diva lipstick. It is the perfect burgundy red without being too red or too dark. This is definitely a must have for the Fall!

I also had to mention MAC's Pro Lip Palette in the 6 select plums. I created a link to the direct website so that you are able to see the true colors. The photo above does not justify the colors at all. There are 6 pre-selected lip shades that range from the lightest plum to the darkest plum. I love this palette. I have been using this literally all month and have been playing around with the colors and mixing them to my liking almost creating any dark lip imaginable.

Last but not least, I have been slightly obsessing over MAC's Pressed Pigments. They have the most beautiful finish especially when applied with a wet synthetic brush. I mentioned a new one I recently purchased called Day Gleam. It is subtle yet makes any eye look stand out with just one blink. The light reflects so beautifully on it and they are captured well in photos. This is definitely something that I can use when doing bridal looks because it is not overwhelming yet has just the right touch of "hey look at me!"

Well, I hope you enjoyed my September favorites and please feel free to suggest products, comments, ideas or just random discussion on anything Fashion or Beauty related :-)

Fall trends: It's all about making a BOLD statement!

Hello Darlings!
I put together a little inspiration board of some things that have been catching my eye this Fall.
I have always been the type of person to take risks in the world of Fashion. It is the way that I choose to express myself and my personality. I am very much into the edgy glamorous look/style and I enjoy wearing things that are not practical to some. Above are some bold statement pieces that will definitely turn some heads!
It just takes one accessory whether it is a bag, shoes, hat or necklace to make your outfit stand out. What would you choose to wear? What are some styles you are drooling over these days? Let me know!

WE WILL NEVER FORGET...

As the years go by the pain still feels the same. I grew up on the lower east side in Manhattan. This was something I saw everyday on my way to school. However, on September 11, 2001 I was upstate at my University walking into class as I saw the projector up with images of what was occurring. I could not help but think "this has to be a movie, this can't be real."
I will never forget that moment I was scared, shocked, and frantic worried about all of my loved ones back home wondering if they were safe. I was and am still very fortunate to not have been directly affected by this tragedy. However, not everyone can say the same. With that said, my prayers go out to everyone who has lost someone in this unfortunate tragedy and also to those tried and true men and women who fight for our country proudly every single day.
I will always remember the World Trade Center like the image above. No one can ever take that away from me because WE WILL NEVER FORGET!

My August Favorites...

My August Favorites

Hello My Gorgeous Ones!

Above is a little video I made with this awesome app called Animoto (click on the link titled August Favorites) I love it when you find super cool apps! Especially ones that are FREE :-)

These are products that I have been totally obsessed over for some time now but really have been my go to products this month.

Products mentioned:
  • Brown Script eyeshadow by MAC- I use this shadow for every eye look I have been doing. It really just makes the best transition color and makes the look pop!
  • Lash Genius by Anastasia Beverly Hills- where has this been all my life? This is a brow/lash mascara that I have been using because it is a waterproof top coat. It literally turns your favorite mascara into a waterproof one! I know! I know! How cool, right?!
  •  Shiseido Pureness Gel Cream- I have really oily skin and I kept breaking out for some reason so I decided to change my moisturizer. This has been the BEST thing I have ever put on my skin. I have not broken out since! It keeps you very hydrated without causing you to get oily because it is a gel based cream.
  • Benefits "They're Real" Mascara- I had to try this mascara because I kept hearing people rave about it. Guess what? They were right! The formula to this mascara is amazing and the brush is even better. I need to actually buy another because mine has run out :-(
  • MAC's Pro Longwear Concealer- Even though I had the entire summer off :-) I still managed to have dark circles under my eyes. (thumbs down) This concealer is full coverage and lasts all day long! Just a little dot will cover both eyes too!
  • Inglot's Eyeliner Gel in 77- I am so glad my friend put me on to this product. I can not imagine using another fluidline again! This makes putting on top liner so much easier because it glides right on. Oh, and did I mention its practically waterproof. This product will not move, at least it hasn't for me and I was jumping in and out of the pool and sweating profusely under the PR sun!
  • MAC's Fix+ Spray- I have been using this every single day! I spray it on before I apply any makeup and after and it makes my skin feel so refreshed!
  • Remington's 1" curling wand- I have pretty thick and heavy hair and curls do not usually last on me because of this reason. However, I decided to try this wand craze out and I am not going to lie, I LOVE IT! The curls are super tight and last until my next wash. BTW, this never happens so I am definitely sticking to using this wand whenever I want to curl my hair.
  • Smashbox's Camera Ready BB Cream- Last but def not least, this has also been one of those products that I have been using every single day. I really do not like to use foundation unless I really have to so using this BB cream has been my savior. Not only does it give you an even warm finish but it also has SPF! Protect your skin people! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this BB cream.
I hope you have enjoyed learning about some of the products I have been loving lately! Please let me know if there is something you would like to know more about!

Until then,

Isla Del Encanto: Bridal Look

Greetings My Sunshines!!!!

I've been away for the past week to my favorite island of Puerto Rico (La Isla Del Encanto) for my sister's wedding and I wanted to share how beautiful she looked on her special day. One picture was taken by her photographer Noel Del Pilar (which clearly looks like it could be a painting!) and the other is a bridal look close up of the makeup I did for her on her wedding day. Can we say AMAZING?!
Well that is all for now, I just wanted to share a little piece of what I've been up to for the past week. Back to soaking up a few more rays before returning home!

How I Highlight & Contour my face: The Basics

Hello My Sunshines!!!!

Some of you have asked me to show you how I contour and highlight my face when applying my makeup and have also asked what products I use.
Above are pictures that I took of my before and after and also the basic products I specifically use at this moment to create this look. I did not get to picture every single product but I did list the details  of what I used. Below are the details as to how I achieved my highlight & contour look.

Step 1: I first primed my face using my TooFaced tinted primer (not pictured).

Step 2: I then applied my eye makeup, it just makes the clean up process much easier versus trying to clean up fall out from your eyeshadow.

Step 3: I applied my Bobbi Brown luminous foundation in warm beige and blended it out with a damp beauty blender. Based on your preference, you can also blend with your fingers or foundation brush.

Step 4: Next, I applied MAC's pro longwear concealer in NC 30 with my concealer brush from Sigma Cosmetics (F 75) in the  manner shown above in the top left corner. I blended out the concealer with a damp beauty blender. Again, you can also use your fingers or whichever tool you prefer.

Step 5:  I then used my MAC Blunt Matte Finish blush (pictured on the bottom left corner) and used my MAC 163 angled blush brush to apply on the bone right beneath my cheekbone. I start from my temple down to the side of my cheek going down in round circular motions. I do this until I get the desired depth of how contoured I really want to look. Please note, you can also add a contour down the sides of your nose connecting them to your eyebrows with this blush and a small blending brush for a thinner appearing nose. I chose not to contour my nose. Remember, apply it lightly; a little product goes a long way.

Step 6: I go back to under me eyes in the same formation again (as pictured in the top left corner) but now using MAC's prep and prime in light boost to create that pop in the concealer (highlight- where the light naturally hits your face). I blended that out with a damp beauty blender. To set the highlight I use Ben Nye's Banana Luxury Powder (pictured above in the top right corner) using my Sigma Cosmetics Tapered Highlighter blush  (F 35) and run the powder under my eyes. You can use any powder also for this step. Preferably a translucent one.

Step 7: To blend out and make sure there are no harsh lines I take my MAC Mineralized Skin Finish in Give Me Sun (not pictured) and take my large powder brush and just apply Give Me Sun around my face blending both the concealer and contour together. I focus on the top part and the sides of my forehead along with the temples of my face (where the shadow naturally hits your face). You can also add a colored blush of your liking to the apple of your cheeks as well. I prefer to stay with the deep contoured color/bronzy look.

Step 8: Lastly, I take my Benefits Watts Up highlighter (pictured above top right corner) and apply that down the bridge of my nose, my cupids bow and right above the cheekbone/under eye. It is very similar to the way you applied the highlighter on your face.

Step 9: Finally, to set my makeup, I then apply the Ben Nye Banana Powder and use a large powder brush to apply all over my face. You can then continue to apply your mascara, eye liner and whatever you like to sparkle up your look. I am sure you will look BEA-utiful.

FYI- I do not contour my face every time I do my makeup. I prefer to do it for a night out or a special occasion. Again, that is my personal preference! You can do whatever your pretty little heart desires!

I hope these little basic steps help you understand my process a little bit. Just know that everyone does their makeup differently, it is really about understanding your face and doing what you feel comfortable doing. It is a matter of trial and error and a makeup wipe :-)

Kerryann

Good quality products at half the price...literally

So I know we all like to invest on good makeup (I mean I sure do!) However, there are certain products and tools that do not necessarily need a high end name brand for it's functionality.
I have purchased simple makeup tools such as the stipple brush to blend out my primers, and creme based foundations (because I prefer not to use my hands) and I have also tried out their primer and HD blushes that surprisingly worked just as good as the high end name brands. I also purchased a few other things like their eyelash curler and brush holder for half the price at www.eyeslipsface.com

I just wanted to share that with you all so that you can take advantage of the 50% off Editor's Picks and free shipping for items over $20. You can't go wrong! Let me know your thoughts.

* Also, if there is anything you would like to see or discuss related to the above or want to suggest something please let me know ;-)

Peace Out

A little bit about lil ol' me

Hello and Welcome to my first Beauty & Fashion Blog!
My name is Kerryann Torres and I am a Freelance Makeup Artist striving to share my beauty and fashion tips & secrets with a splash of my bubbly personality to motivate others to do what they love (whew that was a mouthful!)
It is my passion to transform natural beauty into edgy superstar glamour. I absolutely love re-creating celebrity looks and also re-creating costume makeup looks as well. I took a liking to beauty and makeup throughout my years in high school however, I have grown as an artist while working with TooFaced Cosmetics and AyariBrides.
I am also very passionate when it comes to art and fashion. There is nothing better than making a bold statement whether that means choosing to wear something that not everyone will necessarily like. We have to take risks people!

I love DIY arts&crafts, yoga, singing and simply hanging out with people who make me laugh :-). The inner hipster in me appreciates the beauty in all that is self-expression because it in turn helps us live more healthier and more meaningful lives. YAY for us!

Last but not least, my favorite staple makeup products are BB cream, gel eyeliner, mascara, bright colored lipstick and a great stipple brush!

Follow me on instagam @_whosthatgirl_ for makeup looks of the day, and snapshots of how I am attempting to live my life to the fullest one photo at a time (or maybe more depending on my mood lol). Also, stay tuned for my upcoming YouTube channel (Kerryann Pozzi) for tutorial videos and more.
